Led by China Association for Science and Technology and Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the China-SAE has carried out professional accreditations for automotive-related majors in undergraduate universities and colleges.

China, as an official member of Washington Accord, has carried out authentication for engineering majors in undergraduate colleges and universities in Mainland China comply with international standards and procedures.

Washington Accord is a mutual recognition agreement authenticated by engineering education undergraduate major’s professionals, and mainly dealt with international mutual recognitions of bachelor degree of engineering, and equivalent degree in an engineering discipline acknowledged by participating countries will be deemed as having achieved the primary engineering work academic qualifications.

On June 2nd, 2016, China achieved regular membership of Washington Accord after probation, and became the 18th regular member of Washington Accord, a mark of our technical organization having achieved the major discourse power in the international arena.

It means that any Chinese mainland engineering undergraduate degree recognized by CEEAA will gain the recognition from all participating countries, including the U.S, Britain, Australia, etc.

It will help to improve the quality of engineering education in China, promote China’s training system more in accordance with international standards, improve the training quality of engineering and technical talents, and serve as the basis and key to promoting the international mutual recognition of engineers' qualification in our country. For China's engineering technology industry, it is important to coping with international competitions and reaching out to the world.

At present, headed by Accreditation Committee for Mechanical Specialty of National Engineering Education Accreditation Committee, accreditations of Automotive Engineering and Automobile Engineering Service are in progress. The Secretariat is comprised of China Mechanical Engineering Society and China-SAE. Accreditations of Automotive Engineering has been started, and universities which have certified its engineering-related majors are: Jilin University, Hunan University, Changsha University of Science & Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Hefei University of Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and Beijing Jiaotong University. When conditions are ripe, accreditations for Automotive Engineering Services will be started.
