Founded in 1990, Science and Technology Awards are geared to China’s automotive industry. Over the years, with strict assessment system and justified working style, this award has won trust from the automotive industry, and the awarding work has also been widely supported by social community. Up to now, the participated institutions are of high quality and have covered a wide range of china’s automotive industry, which includes the large and medium-sized automobile companies, vehicle manufactures and parts companies, key universities, and scientific research institutions. This award, having made great contributions in promoting automotive technologies and innovation activities, has enormous influence and significant standing on not only China’s automobile industry but the national scientific community. China-SAE is the first non-governmental awarding institution which was approved by and registered in National Office for Science and Technology Awards in 2001, and is also the recommended institution of the Science and Technology Awards.

“China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Awards” covers awards of achievement and talent, which totaled 5 categories. Achievement Awards include “China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Progress Award” and “China Automotive Science and Technology Progress Award”; Talent Awards include “China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Progress Award”, “China Automotive Science and Technology Outstanding Talents Award” and “China Automotive Science and Technology Returned Outstanding Talents Award”. By the end of 2016, more than 1200 were awarded “China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Progress Award”, 74 “China Automotive Science and Technology Outstanding Talents” and 57 “China Automotive Science and Technology Outstanding Young Talents Award” and 6 “China Automotive Science and Technology Returned Outstanding Talents Award”. The grantees (including awarded project’s participated personnel) totaled almost ten thousand people. In addition, National Office for Science and Technology Award also recommended a number of outstanding projects which are of the first ranks on behalf of the industry and individuals to participated in the awards reviewing, over 20 projects were awarded “China Automotive Science and Technology Progress Award” and 6 individuals “Ho Leung Ho Lee Award”.
